Launching Imagine THAT!

We officially launched Imagine THAT! Playhouses & More... at the Chattanooga Home Show in February 2010.  It was a rather humble starting point, with a "bare bones" booth and a website filled with pictures exclusively from the home show.  But it was a start!  :)

Fortunately, having something that large and bright towering over most of the surrounding displays did get us a lot of attention.  Most people didn't care about our lack of staging.

The kids were really amazed to see Daddy's Playhouse in some large public place.  They had fun actually playing in it, since they hadn't really had a chance to when he was building it.

We thought it was pretty exciting to receive the Best New Exhibitor Award!

Things have come a LONG WAY since then!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

These clubhouses are really amazing things to see!  The first one Joshua built resided in our own backyard for some time, and I have to admit that I spent several minutes every day just looking out the window at it in amazement.  He and I also spent a fair amount of time sitting up in it ourselves and playing with the kids on it.  So we were really excited to get an order for a girly version of it!

The Sweet Extreme Clubhouse

The colors are soft and sweet, and it has so many features for activity and creativity for little girls.  The Sweet Extreme Clubhouse is a two story playhouse.  The bottom can be a Toy Garage, as shown here, or a regular playhouse.

The Woodland Treehouse

Not everyone is lucky enough to have the perfect tree for a tree house in their backyard, so sometimes improvising is necessary!  The Woodland Treehouse was a custom order that was intended to blend harmoniously into a wooded backyard.

The "Dr. Suess Colors" Playhouse

These custom colors were intended to simulate the feeling you get when you open the pages of a Dr. Seuss book.  They came together perfectly and WE LOVE IT!!!!

The BIG Residence Playhouse

Christmas playhouses don't usually have the advantage of a lush green backdrop, but this playhouse stands on its own feet for color!  As you can see, the sun isn't always cooperative, either, but we take what we can get!

We Like It Bright!

"Having kids changes everything."  You hear it the whole time you're expecting, or even if you tell people that you're considering starting your family.  And if you're a parent you know just how true this is.  Having children doesn't just change how your life is, they also change who you are.  Four little tiny people turned who we were into something completely different.  We went from loving conservative, classy, deep, rich styles and colors to... well, take a good look at our website!  That's us, heart and soul.

A Man With Inspiration

We've been building playhouses and other fun things for about four years now, and we're pretty sure that this kind of business is just about as fun as it gets!  Ask Joshua what he "does", and you'll start an animated conversation with a man who LOVES building playhouses.  He is a big kid at heart.

But really all of this started with our kids. 

Joshua is a dad, first and foremost.  We often joke that our kids are his hobby, but that's really true in a lot of ways.  Every free moment he has is spent with them.  Loud, crazy pirate swordfights, animated games of Uno or Rat-a-Tat Cat, reading heavily-exaggerated storybooks with many "creative" additions to make the kids laugh are all common occurances in our house. 

So naturally Joshua was interested having backyard play structures that would accommodate and inspire our kids... as well as their parents!  It never occurred to us to buy a playhouse because Joshua builds real houses.  And he can build anything.

So he started designing and never stopped!

 

A lot of things have happened since that first sketch.  Our little playhouse business has grown steadily right along with our children.  They've continued to inspire our ideas and designs, and sometimes even draw their own now.   It's been a fun journey so far, and we're excited about the future!
